L2L Analytics: Getting Started with Datasets, Charts, and Dashboards
Last updated: October 21, 2026
L2L Analytics lets you build your own charts and dashboards from Dispatch data, without a development request. This article explains how Analytics is organized, which datasets to start with, and how to explore safely.
Overview
Every report in L2L Analytics is built from three pieces:
Dataset. A table where each row is one thing that happened, such as a dispatch or a completed checklist.
Chart. The answer to one question, such as "How many red, blue, and yellow tags are open in each area?"
Dashboard. A collection of related charts for one topic, sharing the same filters. For example, a start-of-shift dashboard showing open dispatches and their criticality.
L2L Analytics is built on Apache Superset, a widely used BI tool. If you are looking for how to do something, the Apache Superset documentation also applies.
Prerequisites & Preparation
Required Permissions: Analytics access is controlled by your L2L Analytics role. If you don't see the Analytics button on the Dispatch home page, ask your site administrator or L2L Customer Success Manager to check your role. See How to update Roles in L2L Analytics.
Data: Analytics reports on data in Dispatch, including modules such as Kaizen, 5S, and skills. Data from outside Dispatch is not available.
Step-by-Step: Find Your Way Around
Open Analytics: Log in to Dispatch and click Analytics on the home page.
Browse: The Analytics home page lists Dashboards, Charts, and Datasets.
Search: Use the search box at the top of each list. Type L2L to see the stock dashboards, charts, and datasets.
Start with Two Datasets
There are many datasets, one for almost everything that happens in Dispatch. Two of them answer about 80% of common questions:
Dispatch: One row per dispatch, with created, reported, due, and completed timestamps, plus machine, line, area, and dispatch type.
Checklist with Answers: Checklists and the answers given to each question.
To see every dataset and its fields, use the Analytics schema documentation, linked from the Support page in Dispatch.
Note: Most Dispatch report pages show only your site. Analytics shows data for all sites. Add a site filter to your charts or dashboards when you only want your own.
Explore Freely
You can open every dashboard and chart, including the stock ones whose names start with "L2L". Change them and save your own copy. Only an item's owner can overwrite it, so you can't break anything.
Good stock dashboards to start with:
OEE analysis
Checklist analysis
Dispatch types and time analysis
Downtime analysis
Tips
Write the question down first. One chart answers one question.
Search, don't scroll. Datasets have 100+ columns. Type a keyword such as type, area, machine, or site.
Use AI to build faster. Tools like Claude, Copilot, or Gemini can help plan charts, write SQL, and build custom datasets. Give the assistant the question, the datasets to use, and the Analytics schema documentation.
Get hands-on help. L2L holds weekly Analytics office hours. Ask your CSM for the booking link.
