L2L Analytics: Building a Dashboard with Filters

Last updated: October 21, 2026

A dashboard puts related charts on one page so a single filter can change all of them at once. This article explains how to create a dashboard, arrange it, and add time range and site filters.

Prerequisites & Preparation

Step-by-Step Configuration

Create the dashboard

Start with a chart, not a blank dashboard. Creating a dashboard from the Dashboards page gives you an empty page with nothing to work with.

  1. Save Your First Chart: In the chart editor, click Save.

  2. Add to a New Dashboard: Under Add to dashboard, type a new dashboard name.

  3. Open It: Select Save & go to dashboard.

  4. Add More Charts: Save each new chart to the same dashboard.

Arrange the layout

  1. Edit the Dashboard: Click Edit dashboard in the top right.

  2. Resize and Move: Drag chart edges to resize and drag charts to reorder them.

  3. Organize: Add tabs, rows, columns, headers, or dividers from the layout elements.

  4. Save: Click Save.

Add a time range filter

  1. Open Filters: Expand the filter panel on the left, click the gear icon, and select Add or edit filters and controls.

  2. Set the Type: Change the filter type to Time range.

  3. Set a Default: Choose a default value, such as Last year.

  4. Save: Click Save.

Note: Select the Time range filter type. A Value filter on a time column won't give you the date picker. The time range filter applies to each chart's own time column automatically.

Add a site filter

  1. Add a Filter: In Add or edit filters and controls, add a new filter and keep the type as Value.

  2. Name It: Enter Site as the filter name.

  3. Choose the Column: Select the site name column.

  4. Allow Multiple Sites: Turn on Can select multiple values.

  5. Leave the Default Empty: An empty default value means all sites are included until someone picks one.

  6. Save and Apply: Click Save, select your sites, and click Apply filters.

Using the Dashboard

  • Change the period: Pick Last week or Current month and every chart updates.

  • Hide a series: Click a legend item to hide it.

  • Cross-filter: Click a value in one chart, such as a pie slice or a table row, to filter every other chart on the page. This is how Analytics handles drill-down.

  • Display on a screen: Set the dashboard to auto-refresh to leave it up on a shop floor monitor.
