In some situations, it is necessary to change the Dispatch Type of a currently open Dispatch. While changing Dispatch Types after the Dispatch has been created is not a common practice, it may be required on occasion. Changing Dispatch types is fairly straightforward. Be aware of the impact to the Dispatch itself before making this change.
Changing Dispatch Types can have an effect on the following items:
- Unintended Effects on Overall Metrics - Changing Types between 'Impacting', 'Planned', 'Non-Impacting', or 'Down Red' can have a significant impact in all measurables.
- Can change the view and results in reporting capabilities.
- Can change Dispatch History.
- Operator Portal views can be confusing when a non-impacting Dispatch is changed to a down impacting Dispatch Type.
For example, a Code Red 'Down' Dispatch is created remains open for 60 minutes with the machine down. Technician responds to this Code Red call and determines this call is better described as a Work Order that can be addressed sometime in the near future. If this call is altered from a Code Red Dispatch 'Down' to a Work Order 'Planned' Dispatch Type, the Pitch details in the Operator Portal will display 60 minutes of downtime UNTIL you refresh the Pitch at which point, the downtime will go away.
Pitch Details below display down minutes of 112 and 121
Down Minutes are selected for review
No results will be Displayed Since the Dispatch Type was changed from 'Down' (Code Red) to 'Planned' (Work Order)
Full traceability and reporting are maintained for all changes made to the Dispatch and are included in the Change History for the Dispatch. Be aware that additional research may be necessary to explain changes in accrued downtime when you change Dispatch Types away from down, impacting.
