L2L Hierarchy Overview
The L2L Hierarchy is set up on a 3 level structure. The default L2L names for these levels are:
• Top: Area
• Middle: Line
• Bottom: Machine
Note: Tooling could be considered the 4th level, but Tooling has properties that allow assets to move freely between the machine level of Hierarchy. This then breaks the rule of: Every Machine belongs to a Line, every Line belongs to an Area, and every Area belongs to a site. I.e., One tooling asset may be assigned to multiple machines for interchangeability.
Due to the way our system is structured, a machine can only be assigned to one line, and a line can only be associated with one area. This means that we are unable to customize the process to allow for selecting an area when creating a dispatch with the machine and line selected, as it will automatically default to the area the line/machine is associated with. In order for an area to be the "default" the machine would have to be assigned to the line in that area.
Individual sites can choose and change the preset default name labels of these levels, but they cannot break the rule as stated above. Look in Dispatch > Settings for the table to modify these names to reflect the vernacular of your plant. Each level of Hierarchy has their own unique settings and permissions. This is especially true when it comes to the settings at the Line level that pertain to the L2L production module. In general, if you are having trouble finding a feature in the Production Module, chances are the settings for that Line need to be adjusted.
