Ever wonder why you're suddenly seeing so many Past Due items on your Main Dispatch View Screen?
Is your On-Time Completion percentage dropping dramatically?
As far as the eye can see, everything says, "LAUNCHED AND CLOSED BY THE SYSTEM PAST DUE!!" with exclamation points and everything. And all this red ink everywhere! Sheesh!
When you see these "Launched and closed by the system past due" it is because the current Schedule is still open not completed (past due) and the Next Due Date has been passed. These are what we call Skipped / Missed schedules. They will show up in the dispatch history report and the scheduled summary report. Launched and closed by the system past due.
Example: You have a weekly PM that launches on Mondays and is due on Wednesdays. When your current PM launches on Monday and you do not complete it during the week, and the following week it is still open past due at the time of the next PM due date of Wednesday, then the system will open and close the missed PM.
I know you're thinking, "My manager is going to kill me!" Take a deep breath. Here's what's going on.
You've set up recurring Scheduled Events, most likely on a Daily or Weekly basis, and quite often these are PMs or Operator TPMs. You know your folks are doing these PMs, OPMs, and TPMs. So why all the Past Due, Past Due, Past Due?
While they are almost certainly performing the work as expected, and are also most likely completing these PMs in a timely manner, the Dispatches are not being checked off as Completed and/or Closed. Every time the System sees one of these events that has not been technically completed (by simply checking the "Completed" box), the System says, "Uh oh" and launches and then immediately completes an event as PAST DUE.
Some people like to refer to these as Phantom Schedules. We like to think of them as placeholders. The System is smart enough to know that the 'T's haven't been crossed and the 'I's haven't been dotted. L2L isn't psychic, though. It doesn't know that your associates have performed these PM related activities unless and until they tell it so by checking the Completed box on the Dispatch.
You've done the actual hard work already. Now wrap it up by checking the Completed/Closed box on the Dispatch. Win, Win. And goodbye LAUNCHED AND CLOSED BY THE SYSTEM PAST DUE!! forever.
And they all lived happily ever after. The End.
