If you are using the Production Module, Products will be a critical piece of information for Product Orders, Pitch Boards, and the Operator Portal.
You can add products manually or L2L Support can import multiple for you at one time. To have an import completed for your site, go to our Need an Import Template? article for the latest Product Import template. Once that's filled out, submit it as an L2L Support ticket for import to noted site within 48 hours.
To add products manually, navigate to Production > Products > Add New.
- Enter a Code. This code is an identifier that will be used in Line Cycle Times, Product Orders, and visible on the Operator Portal and Pitch Boards.
- Give the product a short description.
- Make sure Active remains checked; unchecking this would make the product inactive and therefore inapplicable to future orders, etc.
- Check the appropriate boxes for whether the Product is a Raw Material, Subassembly, and/or Finished Product.
- Product Category can be assigned for 'like' products and can be used in Reporting.
- Attributes products can have multiple properties (ie. length, width, density) this will allow you to assign and capture these properties by product
- Default Unit of Measure is used to designate the UOM for the product; ie; Each, Feet, Gallons, etc. Note: This will only show up if the Site Setting is turned on for the Site - L2L Support can help with this. At the bottom of the page, you'll find a place to do a Unit of Measure Conversion to be used on the Op Console and in Reports.
- Default Unit Of Measure for Scrap: is used to designate the default Scrap/Loss for a specific Product. Note:This setting will only show up if the UOM Conversion is set up. You can still choose a different UOM for scrap in the drop-down if needed.
- Give it a Background Color and Font Color. This will differentiate products in the Operator Portal, on Reports, in list views, etc.
- You can attach any Documents, from the Leading2Lean Standard Work/Documents module, that are related to the product.
- Select the lines that produce this product (Produced by Line(s)), as well as any lines that consume it (Consumed by Line(s)). Note: Consumed by means that that line uses that product to build another product. Produced by means that line makes that product.
- The Preferred Changeover Order is the sequence in which you want the changeover to occur. If this product is run on a line along with several other products, this setting can be valuable by ordering the products sequentially based on the number entered in this field. This field can be left blank.
- Set a Default Changeover Duration; this represents how long on average a changeover to this product takes. This field is a general calculation and isn't necessarily the amount of time it will take.
- Set a Default Cleanup Duration: The duration represents on average the time required to clean up after running this product. This field is a general calculation and isn't necessarily the amount of time it will take.
- The Barcode Format & Data: allows you to set your site specific barcode format and we will display the barcode for scanning purposes in the individual build sequence order process. The Show Barcode button will display your barcode using the Data field.
- The External ID: field can be left blank. If it's populated, you'll want to use it for importing products for updating.
- Custom Properties: Any custom fields you've created to add additional data to the Product.
- Inspection Limits: Setup - Product Inspection Limits
-
