Component Failure Code

Last updated: October 2, 2026

To better support Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and enable deeper root-cause tracking, L2L now allows you to define and track Failure Codes at the Component level.

How It Works

Step 1: Setting Up Component Failure Codes

L2L Support must enable the Site Property for you. Site Administrators can then set up failure codes via Setup Screens or through the standard File Import feature.

  1. Navigate to Setup.

  2. Go to Component Failure Codes.

  3. Add new codes manually.

    1. Enter the Code.

    2. Enter a Description.

    3. Select the Components it applies to or leave blank to make available for all components.

Step 2: Logging a Component Failure on a Dispatch

When a technician updates or resolves a dispatch for a machine or sub-asset:

  1. Select the Sub-Asset (e.g., Hydraulic Pump).

  2. Select the Component that experienced the issue (e.g., Valve).

  3. Select the specific Failure Code from the dropdown (e.g., Damaged Seal, Leaky Hose, Cavitation, Bearing Failure, or Broken Coupler).

  4. Save and complete the dispatch.

Reporting & Insights

  • Dispatch List: A new column is available to view component failure codes at a glance.

  • Dispatch History Report: Analyze failure frequency across specific component types to identify recurring failure modes, drive targeted preventive maintenance, and improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
