Troubleshooting: Sound Alerts
Last updated: July 14, 2026
L2L supports audible alerts to instantly grab your attention when a spare part is requested. However, modern web browsers employ strict media engagement policies that can block sound alerts.
To keep your browser sounds working consistently:
Log Out Daily: Use the explicit Logout button next to your user avatar at the end of your shift. Do not simply click the "X" to close the browser window. This cleans up temporary browser cache and session issues.
Perform Weekly Power Downs: Shut down your PC, laptop, or tablet completely at least once a week to allow system updates and clear persistent browser memory blocks.
Configure Pop-up Blockers: Ensure pop-up blockers are enabled on your browser to prevent resource conflicts.
The "Click Action" Browser Rule: Modern browsers will not play a sound from a background tab unless you have actively interacted with that specific page first.
The Fix: When you first open the Spares Queue, make sure you physically click somewhere on the page.
If you open the Spares Queue in a tab, never click on it, and then request a spare from a different tab, the browser will block the sound notification almost every time.
