If Target Quantity is missing from your metric display on the Operator Portal, there are a couple of things to check to make sure everything is set up correctly:
- If you are using eKanban, and have inadvertently omitted, or someone has accidentally deleted, a Line Cycle Time associated with a Product Name, your Target Quantity will not populate.
- To remedy this, you can delete that Pitch detail and add a new, corrected one complete with Line Cycle Time.
- If you are utilizing Product Orders in conjunction with eKanban, your Target Quantity is calculated automatically based on Cycle Time for the actual Product and Operator Count along with the Planning Rate percentage indicated.
- Sometimes, new Products are introduced or existing Products are moved from line to line or cell to cell. If you have defined cycle times for a Product, but your Target values are not reflected on the Operator Portal, make sure you have also defined the new line or cell as being associated with that Product.
Target Quantity will always use the defined Line Cycle Times to populate the Target column in the Operator Portal. Meaning that more or fewer operators will affect the Target values, even while the demand will remain unaffected.
*Target is not impacted by a product order status change (on hold, complete, etc).
We are often asked, "Why don't our Target numbers match our Demand numbers?" Because the two are not interchangeable. Demand is not based on ability to produce or build faster. Demand is driven by customer requirements. Think of it this way: Target = Demand - Downtime
