LHPU (Labor Hours Per Unit) is a metric used to determine how many labor hours it takes to produce one unit of a product.
- You must have at least one user checked in or manually capture on pitch details to capture the operators running the line on the pitches.
- This metric can be a very small metric even out to 2 or 3 decimal places if you have high volume production lines. You may want to consider PPLH as an alternative.
Calculation
LHPU = (Operator Count * (Planned Production Minutes + Non Production Minutes)/60)/ Actual
- Operator Count = Operator value checked into line for individual pitch details
- Planned Production Minutes = actual minutes you expect to produce or active pitch minutes.
- Non Production Minutes = time that you don't intend to produce but are still staffed on the line. Such as meetings, setup, possibly lunch or breaks.
- Actual = The total units produced on the pitch detail record.
Example: (2 operators * (50 planned production minutes + 10 non production minutes)/60) / 100 parts
(2 * (50+10)/60)/ 100 = .02 LHPU
Helpful Tips
- This metric is used to manage productivity for operations that may have varying output based on the number of operators on a staffed production line or work cell.
Prorating
This metric will be prorated in certain areas of the application. Please see the article on Prorated Production Metrics for more information.
