Machine groups allow Dispatch to group machines together on a production line to calculate OA. For example, if there are four machines that perform the same function on the line and one of those machines breaks down, then efficiency would be cut by 25%. Note: Creating a Dispatch on a Machine within a Machine Group will split the downtime displayed on the Operator Portal for a pitch by the number of machines within that Machine Group.
- Go to the ‘Setup’ menu and click ‘Machine Groups’.
- Click ‘Add New’ located in the upper right corner on the ‘Machine Groups’ bar.
- Enter a Machine Group Code. Codes are locked once saved. They can be inactivated, but not deleted.
- Enter a Machine Group Description. Choose a description that is common within the workplace and understood throughout.
- Select a Line from the drop down list.
- Click ‘Save’.
If you have not established a Machine Group for a set of assets that function together as a single larger machine, this will affect your Operational Availability (OA) and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) measures. Should you discover a scenario like this while reviewing your performance measures, begin by establishing the required Machine Group.
Next, to correct the impact of the dispatches on these metrics, copy/paste the details from the original Dispatch(es) and then delete the original Dispatch. You can then recreate the Dispatch and, as an Administrator, modify the Time Reported and Time Completed to align with the original event. This will correct the Downtime for the Machine Group change in the Operator Portal; the system will not automatically make this update.
