Magnifying Glass/Search Bar
When looking for specific information within a screen in Leading2Lean (L2L), there are a few options to simplify your search. The primary search means, built into L2L, is the magnifying glass/search bar feature. This can be observed in the upper left header of most data entry and data list screens across all modules, as pictured below, though the color and shading may vary by module:
Some magnifying glass/search bar features may also indicate their function as a search tool, as shown by the current dispatch magnifying glass/search bar feature:
To use a magnifying glass/search bar to find specific information, first navigate to the module and page containing the content you would like to search in. Next, click within the search bar and type in the keyword(s) or terms for which you are searching. You can then complete the search request by clicking on the magnifying glass icon to the left, or by pressing Enter/Return on your keyboard. This should refresh the current page such that only groups of data within the target module containing the searched term(s) will remain for you to select from.
To remove the search criteria and return the full set of data to view, click within search bar and delete the keyword(s) entered and click the magnifying glass or hit Enter/Return on the keyboard. This effectively executes the search for “null” criteria and supplies the full data set. Alternatively, an (X) icon may have appeared to the right of your searched items once the search was executed, per below. By clicking on this (X) icon, you may also remove the search criteria and refresh the page to display all data.
Ctrl + F / Command + F
Another method to search for information on a page is to use a hotkey command on your computer: Ctrl + F on PC or Command + F on Mac. To leverage this hotkey, first navigate to the module and page in L2L containing the information you would like to search within. Once on the page, press the Ctrl and F keys (or Command and F keys) at the same time to create a search bar under your web browser header bar, as shown below:
Similar to an L2L magnifying glass/search bar, type your keyword(s) into the hotkey search bar and then press enter to execute the search. If your keyword(s) is found on the page, a count of instances of appearance will show up to the right of the word within the search bar and the term(s) will additionally be highlighted within the page contents itself, like below:
You can use the up and down arrows to the right of the search term to navigate through each instance of that term on the searched page. To exit the hotkey search bar, click the X on the far right of the search bar.
It is critical to remember, when using the hotkey search bar, that if you search for multiple words, the search will only look for exact matches. Therefore, the order of the words, number of spaces between them, etc. is vital to finding a match.
Another important note is that, because this hotkey search is a feature of your web browser and not L2L, use of it will only search the information visible on that specific web page. Comparatively, the L2L magnifying glass/search bar searches the entire archive of data associate with that L2L module segment. Using the hotkey search bar may therefore fail to yield the results you are looking for unless you apply it to each applicable page of content (1 of 6, 2 of 6, etc.).
