If your company has many sites that are located in different parts of the world, it is common to have what are called Federated Servers. These are servers set up in different regions around the world, but are linked to each other. In order to correctly set up a user who has access to multiple servers, you must set them up this way. In this article we will call the server that is in the user's home region the primary server, and any server that is outside of the user's home region a secondary server.
1. Add users to their primary server.
If a user already has a user account, edit the user account on their primary server. Example: The user works in Asia, then you will add/edit the user on the company's Asia server only.
2. Select the sites from other regions to grant the user access.
3. Click Save.
The user will now see the additional servers in their site selector screen when they log on to Dispatch. A new user will be created on the secondary server when the user first logs on to the secondary server, not before.
Note: You should not create a new user on a secondary server since a user will automatically be created on the first login. Adding a user on a secondary server will cause a conflict and will need to be resolved manually.
How to use the federated login
Once a user has been granted access to sites in other regions, the new sites will be included on the Select Site page. Simply select a site on a secondary server to log in plant.
