SwipeGuide: Create Teams & Set up a Team Hierarchy 👥

Last updated: June 19, 2026

Create teams and sub-teams in a hierarchy that aligns with your organizational structure

What is a Team?

A team is a group of users in the platform. You can create teams based on departments, workstations, machines, etc. Some examples of teams are listed below.

Teams per Department

  • Production
  • Maintenance
  • Quality Control

Teams per Workstation

  • Line 1
  • Line 2
  • Workstation A
  • Workstation B

Teams per Machine

  • Palletizer
  • Press Brake
  • Printer

When deciding what team to create for Smart Skills, keep in mind that you view a skill matrix per team. When creating skill profiles, you will need to assign the skill profile to either an entire team or only to certain job titles within a team. After assigning the skill profile, the selected skills will show up in that team's skill matrix.

How to Create a Team Hierarchy

You can create a Team Hierarchy by using Sub-Teams. This allows you to match the team structure in Smart Skills to that of your organizational structure.

When creating or editing a team: You can decide to have the team 'belong' to another team. This will create a sub-team that is grouped under an already existing team.

💡 Note on Permissions:

  • Only Platform Admins can create new teams
  • You must be an Admin of a team to edit it.
  • In the dropdown list under 'Belongs to team', you will only be able to select other teams you are an Admin of.

In the Skills Matrix: Team admins will have permission to access the skills data of all teams and sub-teams they are a part of. If an admin is part of a team that contains sub-teams, the admin will also be able to see the skills matrices for the sub-teams.

For Example:

As shown in the above, "Amsterdam Quality Control - Line 14" is a sub-team of the "Amsterdam Quality Control" team.

  • An Admin of the "Amsterdam Quality Control" team will be able to see the skills matrix for all three teams.
  • An Admin of the "Amsterdam Quality Control - Line 14" sub-team will only be able to see the skills matrix for that team.
