Priority Levels - Work Orders & Dispatches
I would like to see Priority Levels established in Work Orders that carry over to the Dispatch Screen when Launched. Or an established stand alone Priority Level on the Dispatch Screen aside from sorting by Dispatch Type. Currently there is no efficient way to prioritize Dispatches for our Maintenance Planners on daily outages. With many different Dispatch Types there is a need to prioritize Dispatches based on equipment availability, Resource Availability, Contractors Resourced, Crane Availability, etc... Too many variables to restrict priority on the Dispatch Screen solely by Dispatch Type.

Tony,
At the facility where I work, we have a "Code Yellow" and a "Code Red" maintenance dispatch. These have established priority levels based on the nature of the issue, where a Code Yellow is for machines/lines running at a reduced rate (ex, something automated needing to be done manually until the machine that does it automatically is fixed), and a Code Red is a complete stoppage of the machine/line because the machine cannot continue to run without causing a safety or quality concern or just cannot physically function.I'm sure these color codes could be elaborated to allow for more varied levels of priority, you would just have to create the dispatch types and establish the hierarchy as needed.
Hope that helps!

Thanks for the response Craig!
We currently use this approach in Reactive scenarios (Operator Calls) but we are currently trying to prioritize Dispatches from a Preventative (Planned) state. A prioritized list of Planned Work to be Completed. It seems that this capability does not exist (yet hopefully!).

Tony,
Work Orders have Categories, so if you wanted to have an assumed priority system, in theory you could take the same concept and apply it to Categories. Say a "Level 1" category has the lowest priority and a "Level 5" has highest priority. At that point it's just a matter of searching by the Work Order Category.

Since you are looking to prioritize Dispatches launched from Work Orders, you can set a Due Date on the Work Order, which will then get set on the Dispatch upon launch. The Due Date field provides a sense of priority. In your Dispatch Portal (Technician Portal) you can sort by Due Date. This, combined with saved filters, provides a super simple way to quickly see all Work Orders, prioritized by Due Date.
Hope this helps!

Thanks for the response Devin!
That is how the Planners are currently handling the prioritization dilemma (Due Date sort & Down Day filter). It "works", but definitely leaves the Window of Opportunity open.
Thanks!
