The situation: we have separate mechanics and electricians. The mechanic gets called to a machine and spends some time working on a problem only to find out that a motor is bad and the new one needs to be rewired by an electrician before he can continue troubleshooting the rest of the problem. I don't want to just change the trade of the current dispatch because the reason for that dispatch is quite different than the reason the electrician is getting called. What I would prefer to do is create another dispatch for the electrician to rewire the motor and leave the original dispatch for the mechanic open but pull him off. This will change the status to "Idle", allowing him to work on another job in the meantime. However, for a Code Red, I can't create multiple dispatches to the same machine because I have the "Allow Only One Dispatch per Machine Open Simultaneously" box checked in order to allow the repeat machine color-coding to work properly on the main dispatch screen... A little help please...?
Also, where would we mention in the mechanics dispatch that he is waiting for an electrician?People see the Idle dispatch and wonder why nobody is actively working on it. We keep finding ourselves wanting to add general notes to a dispatch. Someone created both an Action and a Component called Note to allow them to put general notes in the 'comments' field, but now when I run time-pareto reports by Action or Component, "Note" is becoming a top-hitter. :(
