Run Rate represents the throughput of a production Line; it shows the frequency in seconds at which a unit of product is created by the subject Line. Run Rate appears as one of the fixed metrics on the Operator Portal, and can also be seen in the Production Run Rate Trend report and Product Order Status dashboard. It also appears as a component of the Performance per Part (PPP %) metric and also the Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) metric.
Definitions and Calculations
Run Rate = (Planned Production Minutes - Downtime Minutes) * 60 / (Actual + Defects)
- Planned Production Minutes represents time that a Line was planned to produce product; this is represented by planned production minutes within active pitches.
- Downtime Minutes represents production time lost to down events; these are calculated from Down (red) dispatches open against a Line during the pitch(es) for the time period of interest.
- Actual represents the quantity of good product produced on a Line for a period of time.
- Defects represents the quantity of bad product produced on a Line for a period of time.
The Line Pitch Board (Production > Pitch Board) contains the information required to calculate Run Rate. On the Pitch Board and on the Operator Portal, the Run Rate on the Line for the Current Shift and the Week to Date are shown in seconds [number of seconds at which a product unit must be produced].
Multiple-Pitch Calculation
Example Data: Each row is data for a pitch; data acquired from the Pitch Board is in white; calculated values are in yellow.
- Run Rate all Pitches = {[SUM(Planned Production Minutes all Pitches) - SUM(Downtime all Pitches)] * 60} / [SUM(Actual all Pitches) + SUM(Defects all Pitches)]
- Run Rate all Pitches = [(635 -206) * 60] / (449 + 15) = 25740 / 464 = 55 s
Under Production: Settings, the Precision of Production Numbers Default dictates the number of decimal places shown for Takt Time on the Operator Portal.
