Takt Time represents the frequency in seconds at which the Line must produce parts to meet customer demand. As Takt Time is driven by demand and therefore the production schedule, it can be uses as a means of comparison for actual production Run Rate or throughput to assess attainment. Takt Time appears as one of the fixed metrics on the Operator Portal, and can also be seen in the Production Run Rate Trend report. It also appears as a component of the Earned Hours (E-Hrs) metric.
Definitions and Calculations
Takt Time = (Planned Production Minutes * 60 )/ Demand
- Planned Production Minutes represents time that a Line was planned to produce product; this is represented by planned production minutes within active pitches.
The Line Pitch Board (Production > Pitch Board) contains the information required to calculate Takt Time. On the Pitch Board and on the Operator Portal, the Takt Time on the Line for the Current Shift and the Week to Date are shown in seconds [number of seconds at which a product unit must be produced].
Multiple-Pitch Calculation
Example Data: Each row is data for a pitch; data acquired from the Pitch Board is in white; calculated values are in yellow.
- Takt Time all Pitches = {{SUM(Planned Production Minutes per Pitch) * 60]/ SUM(Demand per Pitch}
- Takt Time all Pitches = (635 * 60) / 635 = 60
Under Production: Settings, the Precision of Production Numbers Default dictates the number of decimal places shown for Takt Time on the Operator Portal.
