Users sometimes inadvertently trigger an "Undefined" error message, especially when editing documents and Checklist Templates in particular. This is not what you want to see when you are working away.
So, what causes this and what can you do to prevent it?
- The most frequent cause of triggering the 'undefined' error is being logged into a session of L2L continuously, generally 24 hours, without any activity. If you began the process of editing a document or checklist template, you may not have been removed from your session, so you think you are still continuing to edit the document. However, when you try to save your changes, you will see, " MyCompanyName@leading2lean.com says undefined ". This scenario has caught more than one person unaware if they began working on this on a Friday, left for the weekend, and tried to resume on Monday. Yikes! Not a good sign. If you see this, the edits you've made may still be visible on the screen. If so, capturing a screenshot may save you some time and effort as you recreate the changes.
- The second most frequent cause of triggering the 'undefined' error is the following scenario: You are logged into more than one site on your server simultaneously. For example, you are working away, editing a Checklist Template in your live production site in one window. Someone asks you a question. You open an additional window and switch to your Sandbox site. You answer the question which involves clicking on a page in the second (or third) window, perhaps entering some data but not necessarily, and you're finished shortly thereafter. Now you go back to the window you were working in previously. You continue with the edits to the document or checklist template, finish the edits, and click Save. Instead of seeing a confirmation message or being prompted about a revision, you see, " MyCompanyName@leading2lean.com says undefined ". Again, not what you want to see. And again, if you see this, the edits you've made may still be visible on the screen. If so, capturing a screenshot may save you some time and effort as you recreate the changes.
