There are occasions when you want a Resource to be able to be Dispatched to more than one Dispatch at a time. For example, if minor fixes or PMs can be performed concurrently, it may make more sense to have one Technician address them all together. If three small machines are in nearby areas, this may be more practical and efficient.
There is a site setting to: Allow a Resource to be Dispatched to Multiple Dispatches Simultaneously. So checking that box will allow this to take place.
There are other times when this does not make the best business sense.
And there are some environments where this is never a good idea. If your lines, cells, buildings, etc. are far removed from one another, it may never be practical to dispatch one Resource to multiple Dispatches simultaneously.
If your plant has a policy of never letting one person work alone for safety reasons, you will never have one Resource dispatched to multiple Dispatches.
For those never occasions, there is a site setting to: Allow a Resource to be Dispatched to Multiple Dispatches Simultaneously. To prevent this from ever occurring, do not enable this functionality. Do not check this box. Note that this setting overrides individual Dispatch Type settings.
If you're not sure how this setting is configured for your facility, any L2L Support person is more than happy to assist you.
